My art is created with a bold palette using brushes, palette knives, and often by literally sculpting images with hands and fingers. I like to work large so my whole body is part of the process.
The work encompasses the intensity of abstract expressionism and color field painting, the sensuality of collage and fingerpainting, and the spontaneity of action painting — sometimes separately, sometimes combined. Regardless of the technique, I work with color and form to express emotion, community, and our shared human experience.
Influences include Joan Mitchell, Richard Diebenkorn, Robert Rauschenberg, Howard Hodgkin and Alice Neel.
A committed pacifist and environmentalist, I strive to reach across cultural, spatial, and language barriers and find ways to communicate in peace.
